The world according to Luke.
We were informed by Luke this past week that:
birds eat rubber bands,
Ya-Ya drives airplanes,
Mama's pimple is a screech-owl bite,
he can throw a ball all the way up to the moon,
when he wakes up from afternoon nap it is morning,
Mom eats lots of donuts,
screech owls live in our apartment,
he is a mailman,
happy birds don't eat dead rats,
bad boys wear their hats backwards and hit their moms,
graham crackers are loaders,
he likes when everybody claps for him,
screech owls go ny-ny with their mommies,
Jesus and donuts are both his friends,
Mom has a big bottom,
and he wants to catch a jackrabbit to eat it for dinner.

And so his happy life goes.

Last weekend Grammy and Ra-Ra took Luke to one of his favorite places on earth: the UCD airport.

Convenient that adjacent to the airport is an antique-tractor collection...

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, we continue to love our little Zekers...

...Luke continues to love his yellow Crocs...

...Mama continues to love her three handsome men...

...and we have all come to hate the color purple. It's that thrush again. Pulling out the last stop: gentian violet. It is what it claims to be: violet.

Thursday, Luke helped Mom bake chocolate-chip cookies. Spontaneously, while licking the beaters, he shouted happily: "FUN DAY!" Yeah, you could say it was.

The "fun day" continues, with Mom's slippers and Luke's new soccerball electric toothbrush.

And on it goes: our afternoon adventure with Tommy Turtle (a big rock Luke found with Grammy). Tommy Turtle got to ride in style in Luke's shopping cart.

Then in the evening, the "fun day" reached its hilt: a Tricycle Party! We invited the Davis family over for Luke to show off his new pedaling skills. Whee!

The Tricycle Party participants, happy because we just ate Luke's chocolate-chip cookies.

Mosquito protection! (They go after the cutest ones.)

Siena is a true heartmelter.

Like Poppy, like grandson.

Enjoying our stir-fry with a sleeping Zeke.

...but then he woke up. LOOK at that medicine!!!

Friday morning, we waited in excitement for Audrey to arrive!

At which time we headed to none else but Fluffy's. Luke was jealous of Mama.

Poor kid; all he gets is a donut hole.

Audrey's donut, at least, matched the size of his, so he didn't feel too cheated.

Zeke wasn't in his finest mood, but Audrey was kind enough to love him anyway.

And she enjoyed entertaining Luke's constant demands for his attention. He had a crush on her and sure was the show-off. When she left, he turned into a puddle of sobs and cried out, "More Audrey! More Audrey!" (For those of you who are not lucky enough to know her, she is Bethany's dear friend from elementary school, junior high, high school...)

Luke survived Audrey's departure but woke up very sad the next morning, so climbed up on Dad for a better snooze.

And now back to our favorite two-month-old.

If dimples were edible, Zeke's would be the world's tastiest.

Sunday morning we took a walk to... okay, it was Fluffy's. Again. (So maybe Luke was right when he said that Mom eats a lot of donuts.) He called Mom back so he could show her a treasure he found. Hint: It wasn't a donut.

And surely we had to stop to blow a couple dandelions.

Later in the day: haircut time!

...while Mama adored her baby.

And a few last photos from this morning.

Ain't life grand?
For those of you who appreciate Lukey quotables, we'll end with a few (okay, a lot).
Luke going for a run in the stroller with Richie:
Luke, to Zeke: "Bye bye!"
Bethany: "Oh, the baby's coming with you."
Luke: "No da dum!"
Bethany: "You don't want him to come with you?"
Luke: "WA WA WA!"
As Bethany helps Luke out of his highchair, he says to Bethany: "Nice friend."
We're listening to music, so Luke grabs the shaker. Then he tries to balance it on his head and says: "Mom! La la la. Workman head. Tall head. Ha! WHOA! MOM! HEAD!"
Eating soup, Luke pipes up randomly:
Luke: "Birthday!"
Bethany: "Is it your birthday?
Luke: "No."
Bethany: "Do you wish it was your birthday?"
Luke, with a sigh: "Yeah."
Hands covered with flour:
"WORKMAN. Dooty."
Gave him a macaroon:
Luke: "Happy. GOOD. Happy. Peese. Lot. Sit down. Eat."
Bethany: "You only get one."
Luke: "Two!" (then a long pause) "Three four five six!"
On walk:
"Family walk. Family. Good family. Funny family. Dada, Mama, Duck!"
Pretending to read directions in a game pamphlet: "Eight, nine, ten." Puts it in the game box. Takes it out and looks at it again: "Eleven."
"Oh-oh, mess, Daddy home, mess!"
"Daddy home, clap!"
Man says hi to Luke in Longs, and Luke looks up at Bethany with glee: "FREN!"
Holding up a dirt-filled wiffle ball: "Nice ball."
Girl at park touched his surfer shirt with a really dirty hand:
"NO! Ba-ba-bat shirt!" (Ba-ba-bat means basketball.)
Made a line of similar objects and called out: "SAMES!"
Handing Bethany a handful of sand with a great dose of imagination mixed in: "Mom! Fries!"
Alan Jackson's rendition of "The Old Rugged Cross" comes on. (Bethany often sings this hymn to Luke.) When Luke heard it pop up on iTunes, he gasped with excitement, grinned, and asked to up the volume: "MOM! LOUD!"
Talking to Poppy on the phone. Poppy asks, "How are you?" Luke says nothing, but points to graham crackers (which Mom had told him he could not eat) and shouts to Poppy on the phone while pointing to them: "PEESE!" Then Poppy asks, "How's Zeke?" Luke answers: "Wa wa wa."
Bethany gives Luke two M&Ms then asks, "Do you know what these are called? M and Ms." Luke's response: "GOOD! Mmmm! Good!"
Surveying his room: "Lot mess."
Getting pushed on the "big boy" swing: "Mom! Rady fat! Ba boy!" (Mom, push me really fast, like a big boy!)
Bethany: "Do you want a ny-ny kiss?"
Luke: "Yeah. Nice mama."
Ny-ny to all of our nice frens.

Wonderfully purple baby.
Wonderfully funny boy.
The picture of him blowing on the dandelion totally looked like Siena! Maybe it was just the big cheeks, but I was happy nonetheless.
Such language! So much fun when they can convey what they're thinking. And Zeke's dimply smile is a melter!
I loved our little visit! Maybe on our next Fluffy's trip we can upgrade from a donut hole to two donut holes each. :) Great pictures, as always.
