The Little Performing Monkey

For real this time.

In Canada, we bought Luke a monkey suit, this year's version of his newborn bear suit (remember that?). And he really lives up to the monkey thing... still learning tricks by the day.

Now he points to lots and lots of things in books and on walks when we ask him to: not just babies and balls, but also apples, dadas, trees, dogs, poles, cars, keys, guitar...

And he points to his toes! And ears.

The pointing, we must also note, is no longer with his left hand. And no longer with his thumb. He has shifted to the big-boy, right-handed, index-finger point. (Although not so big-boy when you notice that his finger is wonderfully chubby and dimply.) (Sorry if any of you big boys still have chubby and dimply fingers.)

One of the latest tricks that Luke has added to his repertoire is the "cute cute" face. "Luke, do cutecutecute!"

We've noticed that Luke has a strong affinity for getting trapped in tight spaces. He loves crawling into impossible spots, then squawking for help. Under his high chair is an at-least-once-daily favorite. On Halloween, he decided to get stuck on the bottom of his exersaucer.

Too bad Bethany didn't dress up as a tree.

Too cute not to kiss.

Fancy that: Little ladyfriend Shealyn got a monkeysuit too! She even knows how to go "Eep eep eep!"

Bethany with her two little monkeys.

The monkeys prepare for their wagon ride...

Hear no evil, speak no evil, pose no picture. It was tough to get them both looking! Luke is too fascinated by the wagon wheels. (This entertains him on many a walk... that, and dragging Bethany's keys or a big stick along the ground as we travel along.)

He's also really into sharing things lately. He'll take something he really likes and offer it up to you. (Sharing is always on his own terms, however. Recall the Shealyn-stealing-Mommy's-bracelet-from-Luke picture.)

Luke in love with Miss Kelly (stare, stare), Shealyn in love with Mr. Luke (stare, stare)...

And finally, a photo to gladden the hearts of all Orchard Park Chinese grandmothers. Luke's feet are covered.

Actually, it's mine, too. All you kids did "cute,cute,cute"... it makes me remember you when you were babies...

Luke is soooo cute! I can't wait to see him next. He looks so much bigger in all the pics than the last time I saw him.
