9-Month Statistics
The joys of Luke's visits to Dr. O extend beyond sitting on the scale stark naked and getting blood squeezed out of his toe to test for anemia. We get to see how big he is! Yesterday's statistics:
Height: 30.25 inches (95%), over nine inches longer than at birth
Weight: 23 pounds (80%), over triple his birth weight
Luke is also creeping up on the length-to-weight ratio. He was born too low to even be on the charts, being the long, skinny stringbean that he was... But now he finally surpassed the halfway mark, and is now over 70% in that category. Nice growing, Lukey!
Lightbulbs are turning on for Luke, and literally every day he is learning something new. He now stands all the time, with no support, and seems to feel rather proud of himself while standing. Yes, Luke, we're proud of you, too.
When we ask Luke to point to the ball in a book, he deliberately, accurately, and consistently points to the ball on the page. He does the same for "baby," and even tries to say "baby" (but it comes out "BA BA!").
If we say, "I'm gonna get you!" while Luke is crawling along the floor, he speeds away really fast, swaying his behind to and fro in a total wiggle to scram away from us.
He loves to play peekaboo with anything that will work--the curtains, his hat, a cardboard box...
Grammy taught him to lift both hands up when we ask, "How big is Lukey?" and exclaim, "SOOOOO big!" He claps when we tell him to, and he also dances! Now he is learning to do fishylips when we ask him what a fishy says.
So many tricks! It is absolutely amazing to watch Luke interact so much with his little world, especially when realizing that at this time last year he was still an inhabitant of a belly...
He may be learning new tricks, but he hasn't neglected his old responsibilities. Like wrecking-ball duties. Auntie Sarah is very patient with his affinity for removing every book from her bookshelf, one by one.
This book Luke deemed worthy of a little extra attention.
Such a busy boy needs his down time. Occasionally we'll see Luke "zoning out" like this. Just staring into space...
Saturday morning, Daddy and Lukey went on an adventure to buy Luke a wagon. He has been delighted about it ever since. Even his eyes squint into smiley-faces.
How big is Lukey?

Sooooooo big!

Sunday we got to hang out with Bethany's childhood best friend, Haley, and her fiance, Peter. What fun!
Haley even played peek-a-boo with the little guy.

And now one of our favorite pictures ever. Luke and Shealyn love playing together. Yesterday Luke touched her face and she grinned back. Flirting. He looked up at her and demonstrated a spitting sound. Showing off. But moods change quickly when Shealyn steals his toys...

The last picture is laugh-out-loud priceless. And I *love* the sooooo big picture with the "I love Grandma" bib! ;)
Haley's engaged! Good news! And we need to see Luke soon so he can perform for us.
Great pictures. And it's always good to know what Alexander will be doing at Christmas! Loved the red wagon. Very cute.
P.S. We think the last picture is worthy of submitting to some photo contest. It shows such utter contrast of expressions frozen forever in time.
i like the "zone out" picture - that's totally him.
I love the pic of him standing with a book..he looks soooo sturdy! He is so cute and he looks like he has filled out a bit...so cute!!
Wow! Took me a while to catch up.
Soo many great pictures! What's up with red wagons with flip seats? Does it come with seat belts too? !
The "soooooo Big!" picture is my favorite.
