Three Weeks Old
Ten impressive features of our little Determinator:
1. Luke is growing a mullet. Yee-haw.
2. Combined with the mullet, he is also sporting a fuzzy mohawk.
3. He has discovered his voicebox and enjoys screaming at the top of his lungs for about 5 minutes a day. The eyes tighten, the lower lip quivers, and we run for our lives.
4. Luke is developing the suave art of belching. Any earthquakes these days could actually be caused by his thunderous burps.
5. As if the screaming and burping are not loud enough, Luke likes to show off by tooting at frightening decibels.
6. Last night he went from 10PM to 3AM without needing to nurse. We threw a milk party for him in the morning. Thatta boy.
7. Luke wakes up every morning and spends up to an hour staring at us, puckering his lips into a little cheerio, and grinning. It is the most charming hour in the world.
8. He spends the next hour filling up his diaper. Again and again. We are thankful for disposable diapers, and for dear Sarah who empties his full diaper pail each night.
9. Luke now enjoys peeing on his head during diaper changes.
10. On his top lip, Luke developed a nursing blister the size of Texas. Then last night, something dramatic happened: As a glacier slides off into the ocean, the blister cruised off Luke's top lip, and now our dear little man looks normal again.
I love you, Daddy...
I love you too, Son.
Constant companions. He doesn't even pee on his head when she changes him, just when his mommy does. (Gee, thanks, Luke.)
A man of faith: praying several years ahead for good waves.
Bizarre phenomenon: When Luke is fussy, the instant someone starts to play the piano, he stops making noise and listens. But the moment the piano music stops, he fusses again. Comforting memories of life inside Mommy?
Luke got to meet Auntie Chrissie last weekend. She took time off from Hollywood (she works for "The Young and the Restless") to meet the little guy. She instantly fell in love, as did he. Fell in love, fell asleep... (Sarah was beside herself, too--she adores Chrissie!)
Rockabye, baby, in Grammy's lap;
When the wind blows, who cares? I'll still nap...
Hello, world! Here is my rump.
Wow. Auntie from North Carolina, Auntie from Hollywood, and now my Gramma all the way from Canada? Boy, my life is good.
Luke's left foot, Mommy's right hand... Luke definitely wins the cuteness contest.
Gramma came from Canada bearing bag after bag of gifts. The clothes stacked up higher than Luke! If he only knew how spoiled he is...
Who says babies are fragile? They can dangle anywhere.
Luke sports some spiffy Canadian clothes from his Gramma, and looks like a rather dignified little man.
Such a short weekend visit... We ate at Noah's before Gramma had to fly back to Winnipeg. We'll miss you Gramma! Come back soon! Bring more clothes! (Next time, let's try for a stack twice my height.)
Tooooo coooool.
You saw my rump; now here's my face. Aren't I cute?
Gracie woke Luke up to say goodbye. His wild hair she will remember fondly. (Meanwhile, he wonders why all these people he loves have to leave.)
1 Comments:
Luke is a fortunate fellow to have such a strong, loving family network. He's such a sweetie.
