Homeschooling
It has just dawned on me that certain things I miss about teaching are things I really shouldn't have to miss at all. Like all those silly little games I'd make up to help kids learn? Gee, what a concept, I can use them on my own kids, too. Duh.
So now during Zeke's first morning nap, Luke doesn't know it, but his Mommy is "homeschooling" him. We are working on letters. I hide letters around the living room. I tell him which letter to find, and he hunts around with a ruler in hand. When he finds the right letter, he slaps it with the ruler, screams with delight, runs around in a victory dance; and we do it again with a new letter. O, S, L, and T are our current faves. We're trying to work on a broader repertoire.
That's Zeke's first nap. Second nap? Luke and I draw. And draw and draw and draw. Luke never gets tired of drawing. (It is really fun to have a kid with a long attention span, by the way.)
Though our letter games aren't post-able, Luke's drawings sure are. Here's a sample of some unassisted Lukeydrawings. Straight from an earnest little heart. Enjoy.

And Luke's attempt at drawing a person with a smile:

Hopefully your smile is the other direction this weekend. Have a good one.

Utterly delightful!!!
hilarous (yes, without the i, just how Sarah would say it).
Oh my! Funniest things ever. I'm crying/laughing.
I had forgotten how great 2 year old sketchings are. The picture of Sam looks a little like the drawings we did on paper plates at a recent shower... !
wow! these are really gorgeous.
